Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons historically have been the leading specialty involved in treatment of facial trauma.
Dr. Thoman has had extensive expertise in the treatment of head and neck trauma. His experience began during residency where he trained at the Emanual Legacy Hospital in Portland Oregon. Emanual has consistently been rated one of the top level I trauma centers in the United States. It has been featured more than once on the Trauma – Life in the ER series on television. While at Emanuel Hospital, Dr. Thoman was responsible for all head and neck trauma that entered the hospital. He was then heavily involved with treatment of facial trauma at the Queens Medical Center and Kaiser Hospitals in Honolulu Hawaii. He was instrumental in helping to establish the multi-specialty facial trauma team at the Queens Medical Center.
